Home Made Bath Salts

Ever since I read an article telling me that Victoria Beckham bathed in epsom salts I've been hooked on doing the same. There are several websites dedicated to telling you the benefits of bathing in epsom salts and they even have their own Wikipedia page! The main benefits that appeal to me is the fact they are known for their detoxifying properties and the fact they also relieve tired and aching muscles which is great after a 12 hour day standing on my feet! Bath salts are very popular at the moment and like most things that become popular they come with a hefty price tag and half the benefits so I decided to make my own for less than large Starbucks.

What you will need:

  • Epsom salts approx. 500g - I got mine from Boots for about £3.
  • Essential oil - I choose Rose as I'm so in love with the scent at the moment.
  • A Kilner Jar - I picked mine up from Wilkinsons for around £2.

Pour all your salts into the jar.
Add around 10 drops of essential per cup of salts.
Shut your jar and shake vigorously.
Smell your salts. If you want a more over powering smell add more oil.
Mix a cup or two into the bath as you get in and soak for at least 15 minutes to reap the full benefits. So simple!

Will you be making your own bath salts? What are your favourite home made products? I'd love to know!
